great grilling (2010-07-29)
Fantastic Grill. Had no problems with assembly other than there was no written instructions and you had to guess how tight you wanted the bolts. Even grilling and side burner is very useful

Grill - Excellent, Weber factory packing job, not so great (2010-06-29)
As has been mentioned, over and over again by others, the grill is great; solid, performs well, and assembly was not difficult. Amazon and the freight carrier were excellent, the pallet with grill/box arrived without a scratch. My only real complaint is with the Weber factory. They built a beautiful grill, then when packaging it, they scratched the front of one of the doors - about 3" long. There are even dirty fingerprints across the scratch, showing on the finish, that seem to say "oh, did I make that scratch", and they packed the door anyway - Completely unacceptable when paying this much for quality. I know it happened at the factory because I was very carefully unpacking every layer of the carton, and immediately saw the scratch. Then to top it off, it appears another worker lost their chewing gum into the carton just before sealing it closed (possibly the same careless worker). The gum was squished over the end of the grill lid, on the cast aluminum side. There is no way this is packing material (with a blue tint and gum smell...?). Sounds like with the clear fingerprints and the nice DNA sample in the gum, I should send it to Weber to let them locate and fire the careless worker. It isn't like you don't notice if you loose your gum into a grill carton while you are working. It was simply IGNORED. Other than this, I am very pleased with the grill, and think Weber should either send me a replacement door or a free accessory to account for the damage.

Side note for the factory - they need to place protective film on both of the doors to protect the finish. One door was cover by a slip of cardboard, the other (top packed) only had a thin (like paper) foam sheet that offered near zero protection (the scratch was however under this layer, indicating it happened before the worker packed the door).

Happy grilling, and may your grill arrive without the fingerprint and DNA samples =)

Sent back due to shipping damage - Excellent Customer Service (2010-06-29)
Item shipped/arrived as expected but started to unpack in and noticed that the grill hood had another part rubbing on it during shipping and the porcelan had been rubbed off to the metal. Amazon and Weber have been very accomodating thus far. We also decided to get the S-320 (stainless steel) because, although nice, the copper color was lighter than we expected as well as the stainless steel grates and flavorizor bars (which, I believe, will be worth the extra money in the long run) on the S-320 model. You may want to see this color in person before ordering it on-line.

Cooks Greate - Quality questionable (2010-06-11)
Purchased an EP-320 based on all the wonderful reviews. Quite disappointed.

Assembly instructions are great if you like all pictures and no instructions. I prefer instructions to complement the pictures. That and the fastners inventory comes seperately of the instructions and the fastner pictures on the assembly instructions do not always match the fastners. You have to cross-reference everything with the fastner inventory to make sure you have the right fastners as the pictures in many cases are wrong. Anyway thats a nit.

Reason I am disapointed is for some reason the cookbox on my unit will not rest low enough into the frame to install the gas manifold and control knobs correctly. So I called Weber. Even though I told them it wasn't, they figured the right frame was bent and sent me another. So guess what the replacement frame they sent me was bent :-( I also should note that the nice pretty copper top, it came with a bubble in the paint...so Weber had to send me one of those too. And no the box was not damaged in shipping.

While waiting for the bent replacement frame, I went ahead and completed assembly as the defect was minor and caused no real harm... Wanted to cook on the BBQ for my birthday as it was my birthday present. But no. no. no. Good thing I took the time to do a gas check after assembly as the gas manifold had a bent fitting where the regulator enters the manifold and a gas leak. Can we say boom.

So I called Weber, they tell me not to use the grill (duh! - its leaking propane). They sent me a new manifold and ask that I return the old one so they can investigate how the defect may have occured (Makes me happy to know they take enough pride in their equipment to seek to prevent re-occurance so they get a plus for that.) After installing the new manifold, I am able to cook a couple things on the Grill - Wonderful cooking machine - best grilling I've ever seen. Gets hot fast - even heat - I can even able to bake in it and not burn stuff (baked Salmon and Potatoes last night)

But the cookbox / mainifod will still not rest low enough for the control knobs to be installed right. I look, look, look and can't figure out what the heck is the problem. I check to make sure the frame is square, level, etc. Yep all is good. I also compare the the replacement bent replacement frame that Weber sent me (door mount was bent not the frame itself) and they look the same.

So I drop by Lowe's to compare to an already assembled unit. The mainifod on their assembled unit rests in the frame very nicely. I look and look to see if any differences in assembly. All I can see if Lowe's installed one support on the frame upside down from what I did. So I go back home, check the instructions over twice and confirm I installed the part properly but just for the fun it I take everthing apart and switch the parts orientation just to make sure. No it didn't solve the problem

So tommorow, I'm back on the phone with Weber. Not sure what to think as I can't figure out what might be causing the problem. I'll update review later once I hear back from Weber.

If it wasn't for all the defects I'd give this grill a 5 star rating. It cooks great. But given it came with multiple defects and given one defect was very unsafe.... And given replacement parts sent to me were also defective I cannot give it better than 3 stars.
Eventually I expect the problem will be resolved. Weber seems more then ready to throw parts at it but way too much of my time and frustration are involved - it was my birthday that got messed up.

Update: Finally go the BBQ fixed. So long story short, after several more hours of trouble-shooting I decided the burners were also bent and asked Weber to sent me some. Now my birthday present is all fixed works like a charm. Again excellent grill - can cook so much better with this grill then past grills.... If only it wasn't broken on receipt.

Great grill! (2010-05-28)
We're really pleased with the Genesis E-320 grill. It cooks evenly and holds temperature steady throughout cooking. If this product holds up as well as our previous Weber (13 years traveling all over the country, as well as being used most nights @ home), we'll be over the moon!
