Ducane grill built by Weber (2010-10-06)
I bought this grill as a Father's Day gift this past summer. I replaced my dad's over 10 year old Ducane grill (with 2 "S" burners and side plastic tray). We had replaced the burners once before and they were starting to rot again. Setup was simple, all you had to do was basically build the cabinet and connect all the lines. I miss the heavy steel of the original Ducane as that heft exuded confidence that it was a REAL grill. This grill works perfectly, came in perfect condition, was delivered quickly, and assembled in a snap. Let's see if it lasts as long as the first one we purchased. I bought the cover since it's left outdoors on a deck, cost an extra $40-$50. Wish they had included that. Otherwise, I think you get a lot for your money with this grill, it is definitely of better build quality than anything around the $250-$350 range.
Loving it so far (2010-09-20)
I purchased this grill last week from ACE Hardware for $299.00. Before purchasing I reviewed user reviews at amazon.com as well as professional reviews at other websites. For the price of this grill you can't go wrong. Many of the other grills sold at the big box stores at this price are garbage. It was easy to assemble and I have used the grill twice so far with amazing results. Read the instruction booklet regarding "How to break in your grill". I would also recommend the Ducane grill cover. It fits the grill perfectly and like the grill is high quality.
Excellent Value for the Money!!! Buy this Grill (2010-08-29)
I originally set out to spend $350.00 to $450.00 on a stainless steel grill and visited several retail stores to comparison shop. While many of grills looked slick I was disappointed to see that they were really cheaply made with super-thin metal and plastic parts. The last thing I wanted was a "Rickety" grill that would fall apart in a year or two. One of the sales people I was working with told me about the Ducane product line so I did some research online and found out that the Ducane line is owned by Weber.
I was really disappointed that the stores I visited did not have them in stock so I ordered the Ducane 3100 sight unseen. The grill arrived quickly and my roommate had it assembled within two hours.
Yes, I would have preferred stainless steel BUT the quality of this grill is worth the concession on the finish.
The grill came in under my original budget and it is ROCK SOLID!! The grill heats up really quickly and cooks a steak like nobody's business. This is an excellent alternative for people who cant afford to shell out $600.00 on a Weber Genesis. Don't waste your money on a throw away grill that will rust out. If you want a simple, well made grill buy the Ducane.
Ducane (2010-07-19)
I've had this grill for about a month now. I'm very pleased with it. Setup was easy and it seems to cooks evenly. The material quality is good - I had considered the weber but thought I try this after I found out it basically was a weber (fully weber warranty and support). I'm happy with the purchase.

This is the 2nd Ducane I purchased. One is for me and the other I purchased for my daughter and son-in-law. Why Ducane? I purchased mine five years ago and it's holding up to the weather conditions in Washington.Their are only a couple of problems I've encountered, The electronic start doesn't work anymore. No big deal. And secondly the back seems to cook faster than in the front. The big draw back for me is gas grills don't have the smokey flavor one gets from charcoal briquet's.
