Weber's chimney starter makes starting your charcoal a snap. It also cuts down the amount of time it takes for the coals to get ready. Just load up our extra large cannister full of coals, light up a fire starter or crinkled up newspaper, and set the cannister over the flame. In a matter of minutes the coals will be red hot. Who ever thought it could be so easy?

Works great (2010-09-17)
As the other reviews state, this works great. Just crumble up a large sheet of newspaper, wait 10-12 minutes, dump out the coals and you're ready to go. Definitely takes the guess work out of trying to get the cooking started.
Works great so far (2010-09-13)
I just recently purchased this product. It works just as it says it does. I was not expecting this thing to be as huge as it is. I bought so I would have coals handy for dutch oven cooking. I needed 24 coals to cook some biscuits. 24 coals didn't even fill this thing a 1/4 of the way. I'll bet you could almost put 3 or 4 lbs of charcoal in this thing. I'm very satisfied.
My boyfriend loves it! (2010-09-11)
I am by no means a "foodie," so I had never even heard of this thing until my boyfriend and I were watching Alton Brown use one and I could tell it was a "toy" that would make a great gift. Based on the reviews I read here and elsewhere online, this chimney starter sounded like the best bet. The weekend I gave it to him he grilled corn, chicken, and skirt steak and even brought it to a friend's house to show off and use it there. :-)
It truly did take a couple extra days (like it says above) to receive compared to when I receive most things from Amazon, so do take that into account, otherwise great purchase.
Best Chimney Starter Ever (2010-09-08)
I have used the standard chimney starters for years and had to get a new one every year because they rusted and fell apart. This product is orders of magnitude better for only a few extra dollars. It is larger, so you can fit a lot of charcoal. It has a conical solid wire base to hold the coals. This gets more airflow and doesn't disintegrate with the heat and weight. The handle has remained sturdy. The second grip to help lift and dump the coals works great. The coals always light with just a single wad of paper from a grocery bag underneath. You can easily relight coals that were put out from a previous BBQ. The metal is slightly discolored, but who cares? It's not rusted, deformed, damaged or falling apart with a lot of use and unprotected outdoor storage.
Great Chimney starter (2010-09-07)
This is a wonderful, easy way to start the charcoal in our Weber kettle. For the Smoky Joe, which we use most of the time, we never use even half full of coal. Follow the directions, and your fire is ready in no time. Worth every cent and more!
